The spectacular island of Santorini is the most southern of the Cyclades islands and is just 35 minutes by plane from Athens or 4½ hours by hydrofoil from Piraeus (Athens), with flights from other European countries as well.

An island famous for its volcanic scenery with whitewashed buildings clinging to the edge of the caldera rim, whilst inland pretty little villages lie dotted amongst the vines. Add to this the famous Santorini sunsets and you have a photographer’s dream.

Santorini has something for everyone. Fira, the capital, with spectacular views over the caldera and volcano, a warren of boutique filled streets, and cafes that sit on the cliff edge. Traditional village Oia is a must for a superb sunset. Santorini is also rich in history, with the famous Minoan period ruins at Akrotiri. A visit to the Museum of Prehistoric Thira and the Archaeological Museum should also be on your sightseeing list. Wineries give you a chance to sample the excellent locally produced wines, a result of Santorini’s fertile volcanic soil. Or why not relax on one of the popular black beaches.

Just 20 minutes from the airport, 20 minutes from the island’s capital Fira and 15 minutes from the ferry harbor, is the seaside resort of Perissa. Set beside 7 km of black sandy beach and with a mountain backdrop Perissa offers an array of watersports, beach bars, tavernas, boutiques and shops.
